Angel

For the longest time, my husband has been following Craigslist to find a Weber grill. Well after months of Craigslist hunting, he finally connected with a “stranger” in Sterling Va. Through a couple of days of emails and texts, my husband and the seller decided on day to meet. Of course, I’m weary about Craigslist because you have to purchase and pick-up items from people you don’t know, so I insisted that we go as a family to pick up the grill.

To make a long story short…we met this wonderful seller named Angel. Our meeting place was supposed to be at her home, but due to a change of plans, we ended up meeting her at a nearby church. Angel had an amazing spirit. It was infectious, even in such a short time of interacting with her. She came alone which I thought was a little surprising, (being that she too was meeting strangers), but she appeared to be very relaxed when speaking with us. After taking care of business (she even lowered the price), Angel told us about Great Falls Park which was about 15 minutes down the road. My husband and Angel gave thanks for such a wonderful Craigslist encounter and we headed to Great Falls Park.

Now, last Monday wasn’t the “best” day to be in a park. The sun wasn’t shining brightly, and I can’t say that I heard many birds chirping. Not to mention, it was pretty windy. The park was also pretty quiet with only a few people; just a couple of families who maybe had the same idea as us, to get the kids out of the house. I was beginning to think that we had made a bad decision, but nonetheless, we continued on our journey. As we were walking through the beautiful wooded park, we heard what seemed like crashing waves. We traveled down a wooded path and climbed a few rocks to a pier, only to find God.

Who would have known that this was in my backyard? (Okay 45 minutes away, but still close). The waterfall, rocks, and beauty were so unexpected. I was in complete awe. My oldest son Aj has been asking questions about whom and where God is, so I thought that this would be a great time to explain to him that God was right here. He kept pointing to things, “Look at that mommy. Wow, amazing.” Holding back tears I whispered to him, “I know. Only God can create this.” He was so excited that he kept insisting that he go swimming (that’s why you see me holding on to his coat for dear life lol).

I just thank God for this day because so often, I tend to forget just how big God is. He is constantly all around us, yet I tend to take HIS presence for granted. I thank Him for how He orders our steps and plans our days. He helps us to see Him in everything. Finally tonight, I thank Him for allowing us to meet an Angel.

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (Romans 1:20)
