Just Because

The other morning as we were headed downstairs to breakfast my daughter said, "Mommy I love you because you love me!". I had to smile and thought to myself how easy it is to love someone who loves you and proves it by their actions. Every day when I pray I thank God for all the blessings He's given me and for all the good things He allows in my life, but how often do I thank Him for just being Him?

God is the creator of the universe and everything in it. Genesis 1 and 2 recounts how he spoke the earth into being and created all living creatures. Imagine having the power to create something from nothing! God is holy, Isaiah 47: 4 says "As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.". God is wise and all knowing as revealed in 1 Timothy 1:17, "Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.". He is a just and fair God. Revelation 15:3 says, "...Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.". God is mighty and all powerful. Psalm 89: 13 reads, "Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand. 1 Corinthians 5:21 tells us He's perfect, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.". The attributes listed here are just a few of the many reasons why God deserves our praise.

During testimony time in church Sunday night, a gentleman stood up and said he was glad God was good at being God. When is the last time you thanked Him just for being Him?
