God is a Good God!

My family and I just got back from a lovely afternoon walk. My husband was off from work today and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to get the kids out on their bikes. We went around the block a few times, then the kids wanted to walk. As Jon and I walked hand in hand while the kids ran ahead, I was struck by how good God is to me! He's given me a wonderful hardworking husband and two beautiful children. He's provided my husband with a reliable job that enables me to stay home with our kids. He's blessed us with a great house, two cars, closets full of clothes, and a pantry full of food. We're all healthy and have never been hospitalized. God's given us an awesome church and church family. The list goes on and on.

Deut. 26:11 says, "And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the LORD thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house...". It's easy to focus on the things we want and don't have so much so that we don't stop to thank God for all the things we do have. Also, living in a prosperous country as we do makes us take for granted the lifestyles we're able to live. A lot of people in other countries don't have running water, indoor plumbing, central heat and air, or grocery stores with many varieties of food to choose from. Not to mention vehicles and electronic gadgets.

On Sunday my pastor sang a song entitled "I Won't Complain". If we really think about it, most of us have nothing to complain about and much to be thankful for. Take some time tonight to reflect on God's goodness to you.
