Last Saturday, I was fortunate enough to celebrate my 27th birthday! I had a great time rejoicing with my co-workers, friends, and family. I must say, that I’ve got an amazing circle behind me! As with every birthday, I reflect back on my life and all of the events that have taken place thus far. It is amazing how things have changed and how time has passed me by.
I can remember almost 10 years ago, sitting in my high school class writing out my life plans on a sheet of notebook paper. Ho w many of you were guilty of this? For example, I wrote down where I was going to go to college, who I was going to marry, what career I was going to have, and where I was going to live. And I was convinced that I had all of the time in the world to make these things happen.
Quickly, I learned two things: time will under no circumstances wait on me, and me telling God what my plans are is a funny joke. I am proud to say that none of the items I planned on that old scrap of notebook came true. God had His own blue print for me.
As much as we try to plan our futures, we must be reminded that God is always in control. There is nothing wrong with going to God and asking Him to bless us with the desires of our hearts. However, the problem arises when we make plans that do not involve God, or if we are out of His will. Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” I thank God that His blue print included me celebrating my 27th birthday. I look forward to what God has in store for me for the future.
Blessed to see another birthday,
