Are you a virtuous woman?

I Love Me Because..."He First Loved Me."

How much do you love yourself? And no, I’m not just speaking of your long legs, short modern hair cut, voluptuous physique, or full lips. But I am asking do you love the things that GOD has provided you, which the rest of the world may not see? I pose this question because so many times as women, we seek ways to “enhance our beauty.” But in reality, maybe the only things that we need to enhance are our attitudes. Tonight, let each of us recognize the “good” that resides within us. “God created man in his own image” (Gen 1:27).

We hear it all the time; every woman has something about herself that she would change. I will be the first to admit that I have some things that I would change about me (especially after giving birth to two babies). For me, it’s a longing to go back to what I had pre-pregnancy, and moreover to just be better for me and my husband. But the more I think about the way my body is now, I am accepting that it was just meant to be (I did not say that I am all the way happy about it). But I’ve accepted it. God created man and pregnancy, so he knew ahead of time what my body would look and feel like post pregnancy. Who am I to alter GOD’s image?

If you’ve ever sat and listened to someone who really knows you describe your attributes and characteristics, you would be in awe of GOD. Just think about everything that goes into your physical make-up: the color of your skin, your lips, your eye-lashes, your acne, your birth-mark, your eyes where one is larger than the other, your breasts (where one is larger than the other), your hips, and legs, and individual hands and toes. Then your emotional make-up: your strength to push forward through challenges, your ability to trust, your aspiration to help those in need, your determination, and your desire to serve him. Then to your mental makeup: your ability to think logically, to calculate data, to make sound decisions, to speak in different languages, and your ability to read his work, are just some of things that God provided you. Can you just imagine all of the people in the universe and how different we all are? That just means that GOD spent his own personal time on every single one of us. How amazing is that? The best of all: he created each and every woman to be virtuous.

It’s time for us to stop listening to the world’s negative opinions of the way we should act, dress, and think. Especially, when that same world will encourage you to change and then abandon you within the same breath. More importantly, give GOD the praise for even considering your creation. You are special to him. Be proud of who you are; flaws and all. And wear those “bad” things that you may want to change, as a badge of honor for HIM. “Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, shall be praised,” (Pro31:30).

I just can’t leave tonight without giving you ladies this verse, “And GOD saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good” (Gen1:31).
