My Intimate Relationship With GOD

About two weeks ago, I had lunch with a very good girl friend of mine. She too, is happily married in her twenties, and striving daily to be virtuous. One thing that I’ve always admired greatly about my friend is her diligence to build a strong personal relationship with GOD. She does not completely allow the teachings of her Pastor to learn about GOD’s greatness. She dives into the scriptures to seek GOD more, and is constantly on her knees praying to hear his voice. Our time together, led me to tonight’s blog. Ladies, whether you’re single or married, if you do not have a PERSONAL relationship with GOD then you are truly missing out.

Just like having a personal relationship with your spouse or significant other, you’re relationship with GOD should be intimate. You should be able to go to GOD with any and everything. The way to seek him is through prayer and the bible. We hear all of the time how great GOD’s grace is from our Pastor’s and families. But there’s nothing like experiencing GOD’s grace for you! Seek understanding and receive his word sincerely and without contempt. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin…”( 2 Ch7:14). Plainly, if you’ve got questions about life and GOD; read your bible and pray. Do not solely rely on the teachings of your peers to teach you GOD’s word.

Along with prayer and reading my bible, I write love letters to GOD (I tend to express myself better through writing). I keep a “Letters to GOD Journal” and I just write to him. Sometimes, I sit and write for hours. Other times, I only write new verses that I’ve come across. Either way, I consider it our special time together.

For many of us, we make it our responsibility to educate ourselves about our history, education, jobs, and so on. Therefore, why do we leave it up to our Pastors or friends to teach us about GOD on Sunday mornings? In order to continue the endeavor to be virtuous; we must remember that GOD is seeking a personal relationship with each one of us. I encourage you virtuous women to seek an intimate relationship. And while you may develop many significant intimate relationships in your lifetime, they will NEVER amount to the personal relationship you share with GOD.

Until Next Time,
