Pleasing The Lord

I want to begin this blog by thanking my dear high school buddy, (she knows who she is) who inspired this blog. She raised a great question yesterday, “So I’m living this life for God, how I do really know what is pleasing to Him?” I will share with you what she and I discussed.

First, the bible (when clearly understood) is a guide to how to please God. It clearly outlines how God wants us to live our lives from how to praise Him, relationships to church, to serving, to working, and how we treat even our enemies. Following His word is pleasing to Him.

For me, the biggest most important way to know that you are pleasing God is to receive salvation and have faith in the Lord. "But without faith, it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him," (Hebrews 11:6 KJV). If you do not trust in His word, His love, and the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ; there is no way that you can serve or please Him. We must have all faith in the Lord.

I believe that most of us know what is pleasing to God. But sometimes, we don't always do what is right, because we feel like "doing us." And we end up paying the consequences for our actions. But at the end of the day, God wants us to serve and please him with our sound hearts and minds. He expects us to please Him by doing what only we can do. Only you and God know what you're capable of doing to please Him and He just wants you to do it genuinely while staying in His will. (I John 3:22 KJV) says, "And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight."

Furthermore, God sees you seeking to build a relationship with Him, and that is pleasing within itself. I think sometimes, we think God expects us to do something big (instantly) like change the world, when really there is nothing more pleasing to Him than His children striving to build an intimate relationship with Him. In my opinion, continue on your path to building a relationship with Him by praying, meditating, fasting, being around those who glorify Him, and spreading the gospel, and your journey to please Him will arrive naturally. I love you and truly admire you. "That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God" (Colossians 1:10 KJV).

With Love,

KPA
